A new 4,200 SF CMU construction building at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) East Campus Utility Plant (ECUP). The ECUP, originally built in 1915 as a coal-fired heating plant, is one of the oldest buildings on the UNL campus and is located just north of the Larsen Tractor Museum. The new addition houses two new mega boilers, steel catwalks, 10 FT thick concrete slabs and garage doors. The ECUP provides year-round heating and cooling to UNL’s East Campus.
This is Ronco’s second expansion project for UNL’s ECUP. The first project, completed in May 2016, was a new 32,000 SF building and cast-in-place water tower base. The 30x30x30 and 2 FT thick cast-in-place tower is built 36 FT below grade with the new addition constructed over top. It’s home to an 80 ton chiller, pumps, variable frequency drive (VFD) and associated accessories.
